When sewing thick denim, coat drapes, workwear or leather goods, the most common cause of needle breakage and skipped stitches is the passage of steep changes in thickness (transverse seams of the yoke, belt, pockets). The traditional rigid foot “turns up its nose”, loses contact with the conveyor rail and slips in place. The solution to this problem is a specialized three-segment articulated foot. In this video tutorial we examine its design and practical operation in detail.

1. Operating principle of segments

The sole of the foot is divided into three autonomous sections (front toe, middle working area and rear heel). When hitting a tubercle, the front segment smoothly rises, and the rear segment continues to tightly press the tissue against the rack.

2. No layer displacement

Thanks to the continuous adhesion of the conveyor to the bottom layer of fabric, the landing and shifting of the top layer of fabric is eliminated.

3. Working with ultra-dense materials

The foot excels on 12-14 oz denim, 4-fold brushed footer and full grain leather.
