The second type is the designers of the Soviet school, who designed according to GOST standards and requirements. Now the word “correct” does not quite fit the design process. Our materials, type of products and production process have changed. Nowadays the design is flexible, depending on the production processes and the objectives of each collection. The designer must be prepared to learn something new every day.

Education
In our country, education provides a strong theoretical basis for design. You can choose a university or secondary specialized educational institution.

The designer must appreciate design, follow global trends, and understand modern materials and fittings.
Marketing and Commerce
In a small enterprise, the designer comes immediately after the owner in importance. He must know the entire process of creating clothes. The designer must remember that he is creating a commercial product. The main goal is to design patterns that will be technologically advanced, convenient and cost-effective.
Knowledge of modern design techniques
Each designer prefers to work according to one system, but there are products in which the choice of option for constructing a particular unit depends on knowledge of several techniques.
Computer-aided design system
A modern designer cannot survive without CAD. Automation improves the efficiency of the design shop. CAD provides the speed of making patterns, quality, efficiency and effectiveness in modeling, saves raw materials and provides a clear calculation of costs at the design stage.
Materials and accessories
The designer needs to have a good knowledge of the properties of materials: the percentage of shrinkage, the degree of stretching, which affects technological allowances and structural allowances. Before starting design, he must understand what material is suitable for a particular product.
Preparing models for launch into mass production
The designer must be able to write text and graphic TO: text - documentation, graphic - patterns.
Technical reproduction of patterns
The designer must be able to gradate patterns according to size and height.
Sewing technology, equipment and devices

These qualities are very important for the designer. A specialist who cannot competently resolve issues without arguing is a bad designer.
Internship for at least five years, not freelancing
It happens that students after university are not hired by a company, and they decide to work as a freelancer. Without practice and certain skills, in five years these specialists will be far behind their colleagues who gained experience at the enterprise.
