We cannot diagnose ourselves with “anxiety disorder” or “depression”; this must be done by a doctor - namely a psychiatrist!
If you suspect that you have an anxious condition, know that there are several signs by which you can understand what is wrong with you.
Let's start with the "false alarm"! For clarity, here are a couple of common anxieties that exist only in your imagination and are greatly exaggerated (inflated) by you - out of fear (of what might happen in the future)
For example, due to the lockdown, in a crisis situation, you are afraid of losing your job - but neither the industry nor the company is experiencing any problems yet and is not showing any signs of thinking so.
And you are “covered” by a constant feeling of anxiety. Do you constantly think about how you will live if you lose your job, how difficult and scary it will be until you find an alternative, how to avoid such events? And now you are no longer able to adapt to such a situation. And your anxiety does not allow you to live a normal life. What to do? Where to go for help?
This is an example of an "ANXIETY DISORDER"!
You have disturbed yourself so much that you have stopped functioning normally, doing work, insomnia has appeared...
Or this situation:
You flinch if a person without a mask approaches you in a store or on public transport, or at a distance of less than 1.5 m - know that you need a specialist.
This is a violation of cognitive function - you have done everything you need to, but at the same time you believe in the possibility of infection, although logical arguments show that this is impossible.
Such people come up with various conspiracy theories related to Covid, believe in gossip that has no scientific basis, listen to themselves and their feelings, which change all the time, thereby disturbing you even more.
If you follow all sanitary measures, but the fear of getting infected makes you endlessly run to the bathroom and wash your hands every 10 minutes and wipe all objects several times... this is it too!
Generalized anxiety is when you can be frightened by the slightest events, which for a normal, healthy person cannot cause anxiety.
Another example of anxiety related to the topic of Covid.
If you
you are independent, successful, healthy, you don’t have infants or old people in the house - but at the same time you start wiping all the things you brought from the street with an antiseptic, you wash all the things you put on, and endlessly disinfect your hands, after which cracks appear on them, and suddenly, someone from the family sits on a chair in street jeans or puts a bag not in the corridor, but in the room - this makes you panic - this behavior similar to obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD is a type of anxiety.
This disorder is called OCD for short.
This type of anxiety is characterized by obsessive states (thoughts that cannot be “dispelled from the head”, the same melody or song), or the need for washing hands, ideal order, some kind of rituals, rules of behavior and actions.
These anxiety states are called OBSESSIONS.
To relieve this anxiety, a person resorts to compulsive actions - they wash, scrub, clean, arrange things by color, cutlery by size, walk certain routes, perform ritual touches on objects and pronounce mantras...
Let's consider an example of an obsession - a person's fear of becoming infected with something from other people.
This is very effectively treated by a psychotherapist who, after certain conversations, begins to touch the patient and asks him not to wash his hands immediately, but to wait (at first a minute) before washing his hands. This continues with increasing time until the patient understands that nothing bad is happening and no infection is occurring.
This method is called exposure! - it is a very effective method in the treatment of OCD and is superior to conventional psychological consultations.
Now it’s not a problem to find different testing questionnaires on the Internet - this will help you understand the situation and tell you whether it’s time or not to see a psychiatrist.
If you have realized that you have an anxiety disorder and “your quality of life leaves room for improvement!” then, to help yourself get rid of anxiety (without being able to remove the source of the anxiety itself) - how to help yourself? Where to start?
Basic methods of treatment and prevention of anxiety disorders:
- consultation with a psychologist,
- drug therapy,
- hormone therapy,
- physical activity,
-yoga, meditation, breathing,
- healthy eating, dietary supplements, -
- sleep mode.
Of course, all that you can overcome on your own is to start with a regimen, nutrition, and sports.
For everything else, you need a specialist.
See how you feel!!! Do not delay processes that may aggravate your problems.
The most effective treatment for anxiety disorders is drugs that ONLY a psychiatrist can select!
Now, for the treatment of anxiety, there are many “schemes” and options, including the Placebo effect, which is very helpful in comparison with medications.
If it happens that you urgently need to relieve anxiety, panic, or hysteria, there are two types of “first-line” drugs - antidepressants and benzodiazepines.
Benzodiazepines, quickly relieve PA and anxiety (they are not recommended to be taken for more than a week)
And they don't treat the symptoms.
And most importantly, if you don’t see a doctor, all the problems will most likely return.
Antidepressants are drugs that cure!
But the problem is that they begin to work only after the “accumulation effect” (after approximately 2-4 weeks of use), so at first you will have to combine them with benzodiazepines, sedatives, antipsychotics...
The psychotherapist helps very effectively!
After all, we know that “everything starts with the head”! - we create our thoughts, anxieties, fears for ourselves!
Treating anxiety with a psychotherapist is very effective!
The main thing in this treatment is to fulfill all the requirements of the psychologist! - You will be asked to keep an “observation diary” of yourself!
You must write down all thoughts, sensations, emotions at the moment of anxiety.
It’s harder to describe than to decide and feel it in practice!
The main thing is to be positive, find a good psychotherapist and follow all his advice.
Don’t delay, don’t be patient, don’t be afraid! - that’s it, problems are being solved.
